SCIENCE IN OUR SCHOOL

St. Laurence's has a very active Science Programme and holds two awards for excellence in science. As well as implementing the Primary science Curriculum, as laid down by the Dept. of Education and Science, teachers and pupils are involved in the Discover Primary Science Programme.

Our annual Science Open Day is one of the highlights of the school year when parents and friends are invited to come along and take part in a wide variety of science activities.

Children from Fifth class can test out their engineering skills in the STEPS to Engineering Challenge. In recent years pupils from St. Laurence's have reached both regional and national finals. Fifth class pupils also take part in the RINGO recycling project.

St. Laurence's regularly hosts speakers working in the science area and has held many workshops on Environmental Science. School trips to areas of scientific interest are also undertaken.
