Curriculum

The Primary School Curriculum with Religious Education is implemented throughout the school.

The following subjects are taught: Irish (Gaeilge), English, Mathematics’, Music, Social & Environmental Studies, Information & Communications, Technology, Spanish (Senior Classes), Art & Crafts, Physical, Education, Social, Personal & Health Education, Science, History, and Geography.


Special Needs Education

St Laurence’s aims to provide a curriculum which meets the needs of all pupils in a fully integrated setting. Classroom teacher’s monitor the progress of pupils in their care. Subject to consultation with parents and to their consent, and to the approval by the Department of Education and Science additional help can be provided to those who need it.

Religious Education

Religious Education is given for one half hour each day. Preparation for the sacraments Confession, Holy Communion, Confirmation is given in close partnership with the home. Pupils of all religious faiths and none are accommodated with sensitivity.

Parents Contact Details

Please keep school office informed of any change in address or contact numbers.will be pleased to discuss your child’s progress with parents any morning between 8:50am and 9:10am. In addition Junior and Senior infant teachers are available to meet parents between 1:45pm and 2:30pm daily. If these pose a difficulty for any parent, the teacher will gladly make an appointment for a meeting at a time convenient to both. Formal Parent/Teacher meetings are held each year when the parents of all pupils are invited to meet the Class Teachers.

Reports and Homework

A full written report will be sent home at the end of the school year. In relation to HOMEWORK in First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes, parent’s attention is drawn to the following:

1. All pupils should have a HOMEWORK NOTEBOOK. It is suggested that parents supervise their children when they are doing their homework.

2. Parents should sign the HOMEWORK NOTEBOOK each night.

3. The HOMEWORK NOTEBOOK may be used as a method of communication between teacher and parent.

4. Difficulty with homework, reason for absence, etc may be noted in the HOMEWORK NOTEBOOK.

5. In the event of a pupil failing to complete homework on a regular basis her/his parents will be invited to discuss the situation with the Class Teacher.
